A church with a long history and a contemporary spirit.

Welcome!

We’re so glad you’ve found us online, and we warmly invite you to discover us in person, if you’re able.  We hope this website gives you a good glimpse of who we are and we trust that meeting our congregation would give you an even better one.  We’re a faith community of younger and older, families and singles, just-got-here-recently and been-here-a-long time.  Among us are those who have held a faith for years and those whose seeking of a meaningful spiritual perspective for life is more recent.

We’re an Open & Affirming Church – fully welcoming of all – and see ourselves as a church with a long history and a contemporary spirit.  Another way to say that?  Deep roots and open minds.

We’d love to welcome you!

The Matsiko World Orphan Choir is returning to Canton Center Church!!!

 August 18-26, 2025

This year the group includes children (and chaperones) from Liberia and Peru.

They will be staying with us for a little over a week and performing in our sanctuary

on Saturday, August 23 at 7:00 pm

and  Sunday August 24 at 2:00 pm.

In addition, they will sing during our

Sunday morning worship service.

We are looking for help during this time to support their stay.  Host families are needed to house them while they are here.

You don’t have to have them for the whole time…any number of days will be great!

Yes, they can stay at the church, but staying with you makes their time here very special (and the church doesn’t have showers!).  Please speak to:

Gina Magennis (860-965-2061) if you would like more information on what it’s like to host the children.

We also need help preparing meals for the group while they are here.  A signup sheet is on the kitchen door and you can speak to Craig McAllister (860-379-2857) for more information on that.  We will be having a potluck dinner for you to meet them, date and time to be announced at a later time.

Most importantly, come to the concerts, stay to greet them afterwards, and view the items they will have for sale after the concerts and our worship service.  Please check out the mission of the choir and their news at matsiko.org.

If you would like more information about the choir’s time with us, please contact:

Linda McAllister (860-379-2857) or Martha Stansel (860-747-5344).

Our Ministries

Worship and Music Ministry
Our worship services are at the heart of our life as a faith community. It is there that we participate in the stories, rituals and traditions of Christianity by which our faith is expressed and deepened.
Inreach Ministry
Wider Church Fellowship offers opportunities for community-building by hosting dinners, field trips and events year-round. All members and friends of First Congregational Church at Canton Center are “members” of Wider Church Fellowship.
Faith Formation Ministry
The purpose of the Christian Education program at First Congregational Church of Canton Center is to engage, support, teach and celebrate all children, youth and their families in their personal faith journeys.
Missions and Outreach
Outreach Ministry activities include sponsoring existing charitable organizations, collecting and donating goods for those in need, and organizing congregational group mission trips. There is much work to be done and opportunities for everyone who would like to help.
